Nashville's Oldest Vegetarian Restaurant
Nashville’s oldest vegetarian and first certified* kosher restaurant is located on the campus of Vanderbilt University and is part of the school’s meal plan. The café is open to all and is located inside the Ben Shulman Center for Jewish Life and there is some parking making it accessible to non-university people.
Grins ( the Yiddish word for "vegetable" which is pronounced "Greens") offers a regular menu and daily chef-inspired specials that will make (most) folks forget about meat. Offerings include grilled sandwiches, made-from-scratch soups, salads and vegan cookies and muffins so good you’ll eat ‘em as an appetizer.
Kosher Certification provided by Rabbi Saul Strosberg from Congregation Sherith Israel.
* The level of supervision is called yotzei vinichnas. Congregation Sherith Israel is an ou synagogue.
