Details: COMSA has recently experienced a tremendous growth in its membership. The coffee-farming cooperative is led by General Manager Rodolfo Peñalba, who years ago turned to organic practices after a worker he managed became seriously ill from handling agricultural chemicals. COMSA nearly doubled its output to 500 shipping containers of organic coffee in the last year. Those beans are mainly sold to roasters in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Green bean importer Cooperative Coffees, of which Bongo Java Roasting Co. is a founding member, purchased 11 of those containers.
